FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A strong cold front will approach the region tonight bringing the potential for strong to severe storms. The severe threat will initially affect the Florida Panhandle during the overnight hours and then move into the Florida Big Bend around daybreak Thursday. Primary threats with this severe weather event are damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and isolated tornados. Our area is expected to receive about 1-1.5 inches of rainfall. Strong non-thunderstorm winds are expected behind the cold front starting Thursday and continuing through Friday. These winds will produce dangerous marine conditions (Gale Warning/High Risk of Rips) and Coastal Flooding in Apalachee Bay.
Please monitor the weather closely for the next several days.
